This year and from now on, you are REQUIRED to be at the draft. If you can't be there, you must either send someone to draft for you or relinquish your team. No one is allowed to draft for two people, no exceptions. If you send someone to draft for you it must be someone other than the 12 of us. If you can’t make it or don’t want to play any longer, let me know ASAP so we can find a replacement.

The web site is up and running, same as the past few years. It's great because everything was set up exactly as we left it last year.
Rules are the same as we left them, the team names are even the same!

Stop by the website as soon as you get a chance, let me know if there are any changes from last year.

DATES TO REMEMBER

Preseason, Week 1

The preseason begins immediately following the League Championship Game.

For the first week of the preseason, pickups of free agents will still be allowed. Pickups of free agents are restricted to 2 transactions per week during this time. Transactions must come to the Commish each week via email before Thursday at noon when they will be processed.

Preseason, Weeks 1-2

For the first 2 weeks of the preseason, trading will be allowed once again. Only current keepers, future keepers, and future draft picks are eligible to be traded. Once the two weeks have passed and the trade deadline in gone, no more trades will be allowed until draft day.

August 1st

Roster cut-down day. You must have your roster trimmed down to 5 potential keepers for 2005. This does not include your keepers already under contract.

August 19th

The deadline to finalize your 2005 Contracts and Extensions. You may not sign players already under contract to a New contract, players under contract may only receive additional years from the Extensions.

August 28th

Draft Day, 3pm. Chris & John Stenson's Home, 15 Woodside Ave, Levittown, PA 19057, Phone 215-945-7698

DOUBLEHEADERS/DIVISIONS

Now that we’re back to 12 teams, we’ll form 3 divisions of 4 teams. You will play each of the 3 teams in your division twice and everyone else in the league once. There will be no double headers this year. The 1-division/doubleheader experiment, while fun, was a failure. The new divisions will be:

South - John, Chris, Will, Justin
West - Jim, Matt, Lyle, Justian
East - Randy, Scott, Jordan, Mike

We can discuss if/when the divisions should be rearranged.

CONTRACTS

The contracts have changed. But remember that we're striving to get this perfect so that it never has to be changed again.

Instead of getting: one 3-year contract, one 2-year contract, one 1-year extension now you get: two 1-year New Contracts, two 1-year Extensions

A New Contract is only for NEW keepers. Existing players under contract or with just expired contracts can NOT be resigned with New contracts. Simply put, every year you get to add 2 new keepers.

An Extension is a 1-year contract that may be given to any player(s) currently under contract or with just expired contracts. You may also use this to extend players just signed to a New Contract. You may give multiple extensions to the same player.

If a player is dropped or traded, their contract is immediately voided. Any remaining contract year(s) beyond the current year are RETURNED to that owner for the following season as 1-year Extensions. (ie.-I sign a new player to a New 2-year Contract (2005 & 2006) but during the 2005 season I decide to drop the player from my roster. The remain year on that player's contract is returned to me in 2006 as a extra 1-year extension)

Players dropped and then picked up via free agency can only be signed to New Contracts, not to Extensions, not even by the original team.

2005 KEEPERS

Everyone receives: two 1-year New Contracts and two 1-year contract extensions

Before the 2005 draft(by Aug.19th)...You must choose two new keepers from your 2004 roster (as long as the new keepers were not drafted in the first 10 rounds of the 2004 draft). These two players are signed to 1-year New Contract. Then you may give your two 1-year Extensions to any player under contract or with an expiring contract. Team owners who win games in the playoffs or win the Toilet bowl will receive additional contracts as prizes.

For the 2005 draft, these rules apply. Any players drafted in the 2005 draft during rounds 5-20 plus any guys not drafted (picked up via free agency) will be eligible keepers for 2006. This presents a new strategy to the draft and will eliminate the 10th round rush on rookies. This also gives the draft order all new importance since the #1 pick overall will also get the first pick in the 5th round and thus the best keeper possible.

THE DRAFT

On game day, you will play 9 positions, no more and no less. - 1 Quarterback - 2 Running Backs - 2 Wide Receivers - 1 Tight End - 1 Kicker - 1 Defense - 1 Utility player (can be a 3rd RB or WR, or 2nd TE)

-YOU MUST DRAFT EVERY POSITION
You are required to fill all of the 9 necessary positions during the draft. (1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Defense, 1 kicker, 1 Utility (one additional RB,WR,or TE). In other words, you can't skip drafting a kicker, defense, etc., you must take at least one of each.

We still have 20-player roster with 2 additional slots for Injured Reserve (22 max). We will draft 20 rounds max but probably less since most people will have at least 1 or more keepers.

Remember that it's a REQUIREMENT that you be at the draft. Trades are allowed starting on draft day 1/2 hour before the draft starts, draft picks and players are all that may be traded.

DRAFT ROUND ORDER

As normal, the draft will consist of a maximum of 20 rounds. Many of us will have some keepers at this point, while the new players will have a max of 2 but maybe none, so in actuality it will be less than 20 rounds for many of us.

Draft order is determined by reverse seeding (bottom up) from the last season, except the league winner picks 12th and the runner up 11th from last (same as the NFL). We will hold a lottery on draft day for new team owners Lyle and Mike. Since we are always trying to mimic the NFL as much as possible, Mike and Lyle will get the tops picks in the draft.

Here's the order of selection:
1. Mike or Lyle
2. Mike or Lyle
3. John
4. Jim
5. Justian
6. Will
7. Scott
8. Randy
9. Chris
10. Jordan
11. Matt (League Runner-Up 2004)
12. Justin (League Champion 2004)

To pick, we will serpentine (1-12,12-1,1-12,etc..) through the rounds for the ENTIRE draft (i.e.-the person with the 1st pick in the 1st round will have picks 24,25,48,49,72,73, etc...)

AFTER THE DRAFT

FREE AGENT PICKUPS & TRADES

Immediately following the draft, if you desire you may move injured players onto your IR and pick up additional players. We will do this in the order of the draft.

1. You can trade as many players as you want or set-up a pick-up and trade deal with someone. Trades MUST be submitted to the Commish BEFORE each Tuesday via email. On Tuesday, all agreed upon trades will be made by the Commish. An email will go out each Tuesday regarding which, if any, trades were made. From Tuesday through Friday at noon, owners may submit an objection to any trade. If there are three objections to a trade (no questions asked), then the trade will be cancelled and reversed.
2. We will be using the free agent queue again, the same as last year. You may go into the system and put any available players in your queue only from Tuesday morning through Thurdays at 8pm.Be sure the players are in the order you wish to take them.
3. The queue will now be processed on Thursday nights at 8pm.
4. The queue order in determined by reverse ranking. The bottom team gets first selection. 5. After the queue has been processed, you will be able to pick up free agents yourself directly in the system up until that player's game time. 6. You may pick up as many free agents as your roster allows and you may designate players to drop. 7. The trade deadline is the Tuesday after Week 9.
GAMES

The deadline to update your roster is game time for each particular player. The deadline is different for each player on your roster, depending on what day and time their game starts. Even though some players may be locked because their game has started/finished, you may still change the players in your roster who have yet to play.

Scores are usually tallied by the online system on Tuesday mornings. Game are not official until all substitutions have been applied and the score re-tallied Tuesday night. This is all subject to the Commish's schedule as to how soon this gets done. If the Commish is not available by Wednesday to make the necessary changes, then the co-Commishioner will make the changes.

Home field advantage applies for all games except the Championship Game and the Toilet Bowl.

Tied games are broken by: 1. Highest reserve player, 2. Highest total reserve

INJURED RESERVE AND ROSTER LIMITS

You are limited to 20 players on your active roster and 2 players on your injured reserve. You may have injured players on your active roster however they should be moved to your injured reserve to open up an extra roster spot for yourself, unless of course, your injured reserve is already full (ie-three injured players).

Healthy players are NOT allowed to be on your injured reserve UNLESS they just came off of the injured list. A player is deemed healthy unless they missed a game due to injury or is listed as OUT or DOUBTFUL of the Official NFL Injury List. You will be allowed up to one week to move injured players from the IR to your active roster immediately following any game they play in, they must be moved before they play a second game (sometimes more or less than 7 days).

A player is eligible for the IR only when they are listed on the Official NFL Injury List as either OUT or DOUBTFUL. Players who are suspended or excused from playing in a game are NOT eligible for the IR, as they are not injured.

- Injured reserve limit is 2
- Active roster limit is 20
- Total roster (active + IR) limit is 22
- Players are eligible for IR when they are listed on the NFL Injury List as OUT or DOUBTFUL.
- Players must be moved off of IR after they play in a game but before their next game is played.
- You may not add healthy players to the IR for any reason. If a healthy player is added to a roster, the team owner will be given one warning email. If after 2 days the problem is not corrected, the Commissioner will drop the player that is illegally on the IR.

SUBSTITUTES

Real teams don't play hurt players, so why should we get stuck? No more Mike Shanihan shenanigans…

You will be allowed to designate ONE substitute for ONE player each week IF the player in question is on your active roster and that player is listed as questionable or doubtful or the Official NFL Injury List.

If the active player doesn't play that week, then your substitute will be inserted into your lineup on Tuesday and the results on each game recalculated. To designate a substitute you MUST do two things. If either of these things is not done, your substitution will be invalid. No excuses, no exceptions. So don't wait until the last minute. If your email to me or on the message board is past game start time, then the substitution is invalid.
1. Notify me via email BEFORE either player plays. I will note the time/date of the email.
2. Post your substitute info on the message board and address it to your opponent for that week.

(I.e.- Priest Holmes is designated as questionable in week 1. The team owner puts Priest into his starting lineup and designates a substitute of Duce Staley by sending an email to Jim and posting the info on the message board. On game day, Priest doesn't play in the game. Since the rosters are locked, the scores will be tallied as normal with Priest as active. On Tuesday, after the games are calculated and the rosters unlock, I will go in and manually change the roster to include Duce instead of Priest and then re-tally the scores accordingly.)

- You are only allowed to designate one substitute per week. If you play two questionable players but the one you designate a substitute for actually plays but the other doesn't, that too bad.
- Substitutions only happen if the player DOES NOT PLAY.
- You cannot substitute just because the sub had a better score than the starter.

FEES

As usual there is a cost to run the website. The cost this year was $72.95, which I paid on June 8th. The cost is split between the 10 teams who did not play in the Championship Game. Players in the Championship Game do not pay dues the following year.

So everyone except Justin and Matt will owe dues totaling: $7.30

You can pay me on Draft Day or ahead of time via paypal.com (my user ID is: jimcarvin@hotmail.com)

In addition, Matt picked up a league trophy for us last year which will be passed on each year to the new winner. The trophy cost $36, which is $3 each to cover it. Each year the winner of the Championship Game will get their name inscribed on the trophy but they will have to cover the cost for it themselves.

So in addition to the $7.30 to me, please pay Matt $3.00 on draft day.

MESSAGE BOARD

Please use the chat room whenever possible to avoid so many messages on the board, it's a real monster to monitor all of it since you guys are so chatty most days. :-)

There are only a few rules for the message board:
1. No cursing.
2. No vulgarity on any kind.
3. Submit complaints directly to the Commish INCLUDING accusations of cheating.
4. No SPAM.
5. Submit trade offers to one another through the Trading Block or via email.

TEAM OWNERSHIP

- The league will consist on 12 teams with 3 divisions of 4 teams each.
- Team owners are responsible for updating their rosters, injury reserve, active players, avatars, team names, and personal info.
- If a team owner leaves the league, a new team owner will be sought out to come into the league. This is responsibility of the Commissioner. The new owner will take over the previous owner's team; contracts, players, draft position and all. Prizes won by former team owner ARE transferred.

KEEPERS UPDATE

Here are the list of keepers per teams and the years left on their contracts. Remember….

- New teams(2005 only) will get 1-year contracts in place of the 1-year extensions.
